APC Overnight integration: book APC from your own system
We connect APC Overnight to order systems and back offices through APC's API, so staff book an APC consignment from the order instead of re-typing it into Hypaship. The system checks which APC services can reach the delivery postcode, books the one chosen and brings the label back to print. We have run this in a live order system since 2024, alongside Parcelforce and DX.
The problem
Re-typing every order into Hypaship
APC business customers book through Hypaship, APC's online booking system. Without an integration, every parcel is booked twice: once in your own system, and again in Hypaship, copying the address, contact details, number of pieces and weight, then printing the label and copying the waybill number back to the order. It is slow, and a mistyped postcode is a parcel that does not arrive.
Why connect it to your own system
APC's API gives your own system the same booking power as Hypaship. Because the order already holds the delivery details and weights, the system can ask APC which services are available for that postcode, book the right one, and keep the label and waybill with the order. Staff never leave the order screen.
What it changes
Services checked per postcode
Before booking, the system asks APC which services can reach the delivery postcode with that number of pieces and weight, so staff only see services that will work.
Booked from the order
Name, company, address, phone, pieces and weight come straight from the order, so nothing is typed twice.
Labels and waybills on the order
The label comes back as a PDF and the APC waybill number is stored on the order, ready for tracking.
A cheaper courier flagged
Where you also ship with another courier, the order shows when switching would be cheaper and lets staff switch in a click.
How it works
What an APC integration connects
What happens between your order system and APC, step by step
Your own APC account
Bookings are made under your own APC account at your rates, using the API access APC provides. We build the connection; we do not resell delivery.
Service availability
APC's service availability check runs for each order, using the collection and delivery postcodes, the number of pieces and their weight.
Print labels from your own system
Labels are fetched from APC as PDFs, marked as printed, and stored against the order to print or download again.
Cancel and start again
A consignment can be cancelled with APC from the order and booked again with different details.
APC beside your other couriers
APC sits on the same order screen as Parcelforce and DX, so staff choose the courier order by order.
Errors shown, not hidden
If APC rejects a booking or cannot reach a postcode, the reason is shown on the order, so staff can correct the detail or choose another service.
APC integration: common questions
Can our own system book APC instead of Hypaship?
Yes. APC's API lets your own system book consignments, check which services are available and fetch labels, the jobs staff would otherwise do in Hypaship. You can still use Hypaship for anything else you rely on it for.
Do we need an APC account to use the API?
Yes. APC provides API access on a business account, and bookings are made under your account at your rates. We build and look after the connection; we do not resell delivery.
How does it know which APC services are available?
It asks APC for each order, sending the collection and delivery postcodes, the number of pieces and their weight, and shows staff only the services APC can provide for that delivery.
Can APC connect to Sage, Shopify or our own order system?
Yes. The APC side is the same wherever your orders live: we read the order, book the consignment, and write the waybill and label back. A bespoke connection makes most sense when orders live in your own order system, an ERP or Sage, or when you ship with more than one courier.
Can we use APC alongside other couriers?
Yes. We have built APC, Parcelforce and DX side by side on the same order screen. Where two couriers can take the same parcel, the order shows when switching would be cheaper, and staff can switch in a click.
How much does an APC integration cost?
It depends on where your orders live and what needs to come back. Booking consignments and returning labels and waybills from one system is a contained job; several couriers, or orders spread across systems, take longer. We will scope it with you on a short call and give you a clear quote.
